The Early Departure
I heard (last Summer) that Ferreirinha (who used to coach "Imortal da Albufeira") quit his job as Chelsea scout for the Portuguese Territory (apparently now it's Piet De Visser, I honestly don't know) and is now working (or was) as a coach in some lower division club. He was the one Chelsea had sent to scout Christian Ponde at Olhanense and tried to swoop Nuno Coelho from Sporting Covilhâ before FC Porto snapped the youngster.
What exactly does Sepp Blatter do? He's just another 2 bit dictator who gets his jollies by brandishing his power in his typical prepotent shows of force by humiliating and ordering around those underneath his authority.
This senile Despot a few months ago was trying to pass a rule in which they would ban the playing of a country's national anthem before the squads played and a short while ago threatned to keep the Italian League of clubs outside Europe.
Why doesn't he spend more time with more important matters such as protecting smaller clubs? Isn't he the one that claims clubs will have to have X % of players from their own schools in their squads? Then why doesn't he protect the clubs that constantly produce good players in their canteras from getting poached by the "Sharks"? This man is about as usefull to Football as António Dias da Cunha was in his latter years.
I am very tired of seeing FIFA side with the big clubs even when the Court of Arbitration of Sport says the smaller clubs have rights and should be compensated as well only to see FIFA claiming the court has no jurisdiction over this or that league.
In that case who is running the show? FIFA is above the courts? In that case we might as well disband the courts because we know they really serve no purpose and have no real power to make decisions. Why is it when English clubs poach players FIFA quickly states the Court of Arbitration of Sport has no influence over the English Football Federation? Are FIFA a governing body or simply lawyers and spokesmen for the big clubs?
This is unrelated but for those that care I found out today that Douala is the proud father of a beautiful baby girl. I ran into his wife while jogging in PDN and she was taking her baby daughter for a ride in a baby stroller, she's about 1 month old and so adorable.

Yes, we did sign Cristian Ion Ponde in 2005 but it's a "developmental contract".
He'll probably start playing for the Initiated team next season, until then he'll stay at Olhanense.

Pois, mas a realidade é que o Atletismo não faz entrar dinheiro e o desporto desde os anos 70 tornou-se uma actividade altamente profissionalizada e empresarial em que não só os clubes como jogadores são autênticas marcas. As coisas são assim mesmo e francamente eu gosto deste mundo, eu gosto dos aspectos económicos do jogo desde que não sufoquem o aspecto desportivo.

Obikwelu queria demasiado dinheiro, foi puramente uma decisão de cortar custos que temos que aceitar, se esticar-mos a corda financeira com ele o dinheiro iria falta algures. Aos gestores é esperado que tomem decisões dificeis. FSF disse-me exactamente quanto ele queria por fazer 3 corridas e eram números brutais, ridiculos para o que o mercado Português pode pagar dai o Professor MP foi buscar o Dwight Thomas.

Não, é minha, a exposição mediática é a única coisa que nos permitirá expandir a nossa marca e conquistar novos mercados, adeptos e Sponsors e com isso fazer entrar mais dinheiro que nos permita manter os grandes talentos até termos uma base sólida na Europa. Não há rigorosamente diferença nenhuma entre ganharmos o campeonato 18 ou 19 vezes, não vamos crescer mais por causa disso, estagnámos á muitos anos e se queremos crescer para além da fronteira e mercado português temso que fazer mossa na Europa, o campeonato Português nada significa em termos de prestigio aos olhos dos adeptos/sponsors que queremos pois os outros já conquistámos á 50 anos.

Não, mas quero o Sporting transformado num Lyon, num Valencia, num Bayern de Munique, clubes com uma excelente saúde financeira e uma gestão económico -desportiva fantástica e altamente profissionalizada e que consegue porduzir com regularidade resultados desportivos. O que eu quero é equilibrio na politica económico-financeira e por vezes para lá chegar é preciso dar mais atenção a uma vertente que a outra durante X de anos, neste momento FSF aposta na desportiva fazendo o sacrificio de manter N18 e JM28 numa aposta que vai render a longo prazo com 1) resultados desportivos, 2) maior valorização dos atletas e aumentar o seu valor de mercado.
Não me lembro dizer o que é ser sócio embora sei o que EU gosto. Quem me conhece sabe que NUNCA apoiei José Roquetet e não tenho QUALQUER simpatia por ele, nenhuma. O Sporting Empresarial foi um fracasso unica e exclusivamente porque foi projectado em 1997 e na década que se seguiu a economia mudou imenso, as expectativas do SPC eram demasiado optimistas baseadas no boom económico que se deu no final do1º mandato de Clinton mas quando a era dot.com deu o berro em finais de 1999 o mundo mudou imenso e após 11 de Setembro mais ainda.

Não o fez com o Real Madrid ou com o Manchester United. Berlusconi fez do Milan um clube empresarial e teve 20 anos de grande sucesso, o Bayern é o clube mais bem gerido do mundo a nível empresarial, etc, etc, etc.

Prestigio desportivo atrai o dinheiro mas chegar a uma meia-final da CL significa mais que ganhar o Campeonato. Somos um pais de 10 milhões, a Europa tem quase 400 milhões de habitantes e quase todos eles com um poder de comprar superior ao nosso e é a esses consumidores que desejamos chegar, se forem Sportinguistas que diferença faz serem Portugueses ou Alemães ou lá o que forem? Sem dinheiro é impossível construir pavilhões, negociar extensão de contractos com os MVPs, expandir o estádio, etc e essa valorização não só da marca SCP como dos seus activos só pode ser feita na CL. O Nani podia ganhar 5 ligas seguidas e isso não significava NADA aos olhos dos clubes compradores, NADA, mas se ele brilhar numa meia-final da CL com a nossa camisa o seu valor de mercado sobre em flecha.
O Nani podia ganhar a liga e saia pelo preço do Quaresma mas se brilhar contra um opositor que atraia os olhares como um Man Utd ele sairá por valores maiores que o Ronaldo. NINGUÈM vê um SCP Vs Benfica mas quando jogamos contra clubes grandes os olhos do mundo estão em nós, precisamos dessa montra. O Nani hoje contra a Dinamarca consegui mais exposição mediática e aumentou X vezes o seu valor de mercado algo que pouco fez em 40 jogos pelo Sporting. O Sporting não tem visibilidade a menos que esteja na CL.
Jogarmos contra o Inter e Bayern de Munique vai fazer MARAVILHAS por nós, se ganharmos será um breakthrough incrivel para o SCP na era moderna esse tipo de publicidade num media market como o Inglês Espanhol e Italiano é impagável, quero ver os nossos atletas na CNN, na Sky, quero que todos saibam o seu real valor e quando os quiserem terão que pagar uma enormidade

Sempre assim fui, dá-me gozo ver um jovem vir do "nada" e pegar de estaca no meio de homens adultos. Isto não são meros jovens, são os nossos meninos, os nossos Leõezinhos, é muito especial. Mais que qualquer outra coisa gosto das camadas jovens, se eles um dia fossem abolidas quase de certeza desistiria de ser sócio e afastar-me-ia do clube.

Captações para Escolas.

Definitly We're on "opposite barricades" but nonetheless we're Sportinguistas! Thanks very much for answering fully to my post!
You want some "american way of life" to our Sporting, with big transfers of our putos maravilhas and big sponsors and revenues! Huge media exposure means very flexible managing, lot of deals, brand contracting obligations and it will eventually turn the club into something different than a sporting Club, like Chelsea or some "entreposto de jogadores, empresários, falsos dirigentes( like Freitas). In short you want "Bright lights, big city" and I want a "Marcha do Sporting" something I can relate to, a house I feel a bond with, where we can feel a living tradition, where former athletes and dirigentes get along with no strings attached!
Of course we can always discuss football( tactics, transfers and so on!) and we'll always have a lot to tell!
I still feel a litlle puzzled about your enthusiasm on "camadas jovens"! Ok I can understand your thrill in seeing the rising of JM, Nani, Zezinando(we hope), Caiado, etc! For me it's a mutual feeling but always within Sporting! I believe that the people in charge SHOULD( têm esse dever sagrado) tell these kids that the biggest achievement they can aim it is to play for SCP in the first team in campeonato, taça or CL matches! But as we know they tell them (or instead maybe their manager tells them!) that playing at the highest level is the trampoline to the clubs you mentioned, which in general( not Real or Barça though!)have nothing but football! It´s the money they're referring to in the underlines! It's all about the fucking money, that's all!

I didn't say I want the American way of life for SCP nor do I know what that means in this context. As for transfers they are a part of football, even the big clubs sell as long as it makes sense in the overall Sports-Economical aspect, Man Utd sold David Beckham aged 28 for 35 million Euros which was a VERY good business decision and this Summer Milan sold Sheva for 50 million which was also a great business decision, obviously it seemed in a short term vision to be a better economic decision than Sports wise but in hindsight what has Beckham achieved at Madrid and who cannot see that Shevchenko is clearly slower and has an history of muscular injuries and is 30?
Transfers are a part of the business of football, it's a way to generate revenue, needless to say some clubs have more pressure to sell than others but eventually all players become expendable for the right price. For me it's not so much how much money we get for a player but rather how we spend that money afterwards.
I don't want to sell Nani or Moutinho and neither does anybody else including the SAD but sooner or later they'll go and if they go at the right time and for the right price then I applaud the move. I don't want Nani to go now but if he goes in 3 or 4 years time then it will have been enough time for the youth set-up to have generate adequate replacements plus Nani right now has done nothing except appear in the National Squad and is worth X but in 3-4 years if he's a regular in the National squad and has appeared 4 times in a row in the CL his value will be astronomical. Selling now would be bad but selling him at the right time after he's gained exposure will be a good move, the only thing I trully care about is to lock up his contract and with a Buyout clause in the region of 30 million.

I'm not a big fan of Zezinando, in fact I wasn't surprised that he got sent out on loan at all, physically he's unquestionably a special athlete with unique attributes but tactically I don't think he's ready to play in the big leagues yet. I think Zezinando either will play in a double-pivoted tactical system with 2 DMs otherwise he'll find that what worked against kids won't work against adults. Zezinando is a classical ball-winner but he is not a positional defensive midfielder. I think there's room for Zezi as Paredes replacement at Inside-Right in the near future working as a filtration unit before the ball reaches Custódio's jurisdiction.
As for Caiado we'll see, I see him as a bigger, stronger version of Paulo Sérgio but that's not saying much IMO. Bruno Pereirinha is the one who trully catches my eye.
In the coming 2 years 5 (or more) very special players are going to reach the 1st Team, it's important that the team isn't dismantled before they arrive so that the transition goes smoothly.
