Moving On Up
With Portsmouth in the brink of securing a 1 year loan deal worth 1 million euros for Sporting's Rudolphe Douala a spot opens up in the 1st Team's squad and with no transfers left to be done this means a potential promotion (temporary or not) for a Junior.
Considering that Sporting plays with a midfield diamond it doesn't require wingers, it requires players that can either play or adapt to "Inside-Left", "Inside-Right", "Playmaker" or even Defensive Midfielder.
Yesterday (August 30th) Paulo Bento called up 4 Juniors, for sure even then Paulo Bento must of been aware of Douala's potential departure, could it be the 4 juniors were not picked at random and instead he was sizing up some options for his midfield in the near future to fill Douala's slot in the 1st Team?
Considering that the 4 players are all midfielders (Fábio Paim is a Winger but could possibly be adapted to Playmaker) one can't help but think this is more than just a coincidence as he called up defensive Centre-Midfielder João Martins (30/06/1988), Ofensive Midfielder André Pires (15/03/1988), Playmaker Yannick Dias (17/06/1988) and Forward (winger) Fábio Paim (15/02/1988).
